Fred Is A Fraudster, Blast Lyon President Jean-Michel Aulas

No stranger to launching stinging attacks on individuals he has a gripe with, the Olympique Lyonnais’ president’s ire has been targeted at enigmatic striker Fred.

On several occasions this winter, Fred has appeared poised to finally leave Olympique Lyonnais after a prolonged contract saga. Les Gones expected the Brazilian to sign a termination deal with them at the weekend to allow him to return to his native country and join Fluminense, but he failed to do so, leaving president Jean-Michel Aulas seething.

“We waited until Saturday for him to sign his contract termination,” declared the president in local paper Le Progres. “But he did not come. He is unreal. What he does to his wife and his colleagues is unthinkable. It is not human.

“We cannot remain inactive on such things. We are speaking with our lawyers at present and I cannot say anything about it.”

Little about the mercurial striker’s life has been simple in the last couple of years, but his activities over the last two months have been bizarre even by his standards. After declaring that he wanted to return to Brazil, he decided to announce that he would prefer to stay in Europe, before finally changing his mind again.

In the meantime, Tottenham Hotspur had brokered a loan deal with Lyon, however, when the time came for Fred to discuss terms with the London club, he simply did not show up.

Fluminense announced his arrival two weeks ago and are simply waiting on the forward to sign this deal with Lyon. The 25-year-old is to receive a little over €25,000 per week at the Brazilian club and will receive a signing on bonus of €1 million.

This complicated tale may have some distance to run yet. Meanwhile, OL must focus their energies on defeating Barcelona in the Champions League on Tuesday.
