In a move that will be widely welcomed by all the major French clubs, the LFP have elected to shift the closure of the transfer window back by 24 hours in order to avoid an abrupt end to player movement on a Sunday evening.

Shadowing the major European leagues such as England, Italy and Germany, Jean-Pierre Hughes, the director general of the LFP, announced the move this afternoon. France are also following the lead of the Scottish league, who announced a similar decision today.

The move is aimed to prevent the clubs involved in Europe (Lyon, Bordeaux, Marseille, Nancy, Rennes and Saint-Étienne) being placed at a disadvantage in relation to their opponents from other countries.

Several French sides will be looking to make advances in the market in the coming days with Monaco, Marseille, Lille, Lyon and Le Mans all predicted to be making further additions in the next week. Any last ditch deals done by these, or any French clubs, can be left until a week on Monday, in line with many of their European counterparts.
