Youngster Ayew Loaned To Lorient
Olympique Marseille youngster André Ayew is on the verge of completing a loan move to Lorient, who would not have the option to sign the Ghanaian international…
Rated as one of the top young African players, André Ayew, at just 18 years of age has already played a number of times for his country and has featured in the Champions League for Olympique Marseille. The son of the legendary Abedi Pele, the left-sided player has always been forced under an intense spotlight.
Mamadou Niang’s showings on the left of midfield, as well as the large and talented Marseille squad, have since limited Ayew’s appearances in the first team.
Most commonly utilised on the left-hand side of midfield but also able to operate as a forward, Ayew should add extra attacking strength to a Lorient side desperately short of offensive options.
Lorient won their opening Ligue 1 match 1-0 over Le Mans on Saturday but are widely regarded to be without a serious attacking threat. Kévin Gameiro has made a positive impression since his move from Strasbourg but Marama Vahirua and Rafik Saifi are both carrying knocks.
Ayew needs only to pass a medical tomorrow to bolster Lorient’s forward line. This should prove to be a formality.
