Manchester United and England striker Wayne Rooney has lashed out at the British press for following him to a family holiday in Portugal.
The 28-year-old is on a post-season break with his wife Coleen and sons Kai and Klay and made clear his annoyance as he prepares for the World Cup in Brazil.
Rooney tweeted: "Disgusting that English press have flew [sic] out to Portugal to follow me while I'm with my children."
The United forward has had run-ins with the press in the past, most notably winning a case for libel in 2006 after two tabloids claimed he had assaulted wife Coleen in a nightclub.
When a portion of England fans at World Cup 2010 booed after a drab draw with Algeria, the striker criticised supporters to television cameras on the pitch over the support the national team had received in South Africa.
England's first match of the World Cup is against Italy on June 14. Roy Hodgson's side face Peru at Wembley on May 30, before flying to Miami to take on Ecuador and Honduras in two more friendlies prior to the tournament in Brazil.
