Jose Mourinho admitted on Friday that he felt the winger "was not ready to sacrifice himself for the team" after his display against Atletico Madrid at Stamford Bridge
The Belgium international was criticised by Jose Mourinho for his lack of defensive contribution in the wake of Chelsea's Champions League exit to Atletico Madrid on Wednesday evening.
The 23-year-old winger was at fault for the first of Atletico's three goals at Stamford Bridge as he failed to track the run of full-back Juanfran in the build-up to Adrian Lopez's equaliser.
"He's not the kind of player ready to sacrifice himself 100 per cent for the team," Mourinho said on Friday.
"No, I'm not happy [with his defensive performance]. I speak to him all season and I've been trying to improve him all season."
Elsewhere for Chelsea, Demba Ba is given his fifth Premier League start of the season, while Nemanja Matic and Mohamed Salah, who were ineligible to play against Atletico, return to the side.
David Luiz also drops to the bench as Frank Lampard is given a spot in midfield. Cesar Azpilicueta, who started on the right flank against Atletico, fails to make the matchday squad and is replaced by Andre Schurrle.
For Norwich, who will be virtually relegated if they lose at Stamford Bridge, Johan Elmander is preferred to Ricky van Wolfswinkel in attack as Neil Adams makes three changes following his side's 4-0 defeat against Manchester United last Saturday.
