Moyes rubbishes Rio Ferdinand retirement reports

Speculation the Manchester United defender was set to hang up his boots at the end of the season mounted on Tuesday, but the manager insists such talk is "complete nonsense"
David Moyes has described reports suggesting Rio Ferdinand will retire after being left out of Manchester United's trip to a warm-weather training camp as "complete nonsense."

13/2 Man Utd are 13/2 with bet365 to finish in the top four
United are understood to be travelling to Dubai on Thursday ahead of their Champions League clash with Olympiakos on February 25.

It had been suggested Ferdinand would be left out of the trip and would promptly call time on his career with his contract due to expire at the end of the season.

"I can only tell you whatever was written today was a load of rubbish," Moyes told reporters. "[It is] complete nonsense."

United travel to Arsenal on Wednesday before heading to the Middle East and Moyes feels, after a poor run of form, the break will serve his players well.

"We've got a chance to have a few days. We'll see. We'll go and try and have a few days to get ready. We've got a big Champions League game coming up in a week's time."
