Though his side have outscored everyone else in the Premier League so far, the Chilean is well aware of their dips in form and expects the battle to last until the final day

Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini feels that, despite his side's ominously free-scoring form, the Premier League title race will come down to just one or two points.

City, who could return to the top of the table by beating Chelsea on Monday, have netted 68 goals so far this season, 10 more than Liverpool, their nearest challengers in that department, and over 20 more than anyone else.

But the Chilean is well aware that they will have to stay focused in order to see off their rivals and expects the fight for glory to rage until the final day of the campaign.

"We have 45 points more to play for until the end of the season," Pellegrini told reporters.

"The team that wins the title will be just by [a margin of] one point or two points, so we’ll continue to try to be at the top."

Though delighted when his plans come together, the City boss is well aware that his men are not always on top form.

He added: "When we do it well, we are a very strong team. When we don't do it very well, we are a very weak team, as Watford showed when they played against us in the first 45 minutes in the FA Cup."
