Manchester City are title favourites, says Mourinho

The Blues manager believes that opposite number Manuel Pellegrini has "an unbelievable squad of players" at his disposal and expects a tough game at Stamford Bridge
Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho believes that Manchester City are favourites to win the Premier League title this season.

The Blues welcome the 2011-12 champions to Stamford Bridge on Sunday just two points adrift of league leaders Arsenal.

City are a point further back in fourth but the Portuguese - who guided Chelsea to consecutive Premier League crowns in 2005 and 2006 - believes that Manuel Pellegrini's side are most likely to lift the trophy this term.

"You have to say that [City are favourites]," Mourinho told reporters.

"Pellegrini can win the title and he has the most important thing, which is an unbelievable squad of players.

"They are a very good team. They have two very good teams - one playing, and another one on the bench and in the stands. A fantastic squad and fantastic players, a really good team."

City will be without captain Vincent Kompany for the game because of a calf problem but Mourinho does not feel that the Belgium international's absence will be a factor.

"It's a surprise for me because I thought he was going to play but it doesn't change [anything]," he added.
