The Bluebirds are unbeaten on home soil so far this term but our tipster expects Andre Villas-Boas' side to bring that run to an end by claiming all three points on Sunday
Despite a disappointing defeat against north London rivals Arsenal, Andre Villas-Boas will be satisfied with the start his side have made to the season, winning three of their opening four Premier League fixtures with only one goal having been conceded thus far.
Spurs are chalked up as Paddy Power’s 10/11 (1.91) favourites to claim another three points this weekend against Malky Mackay’s top-flight newcomers.
Cardiff, though, will provide stern opposition for Villas-Boas’ side and, having already claimed victory over Manchester City and a point against Everton on home soil this term, the Bluebirds will be confident of taking another high-profile scalp when Spurs are the visitors to Wales.
Mackay’s men can be backed at 3/1 (4.0) with Paddy Power to see off Spurs on Sunday while the same firm go 5/2 (3.50) that the two sides are forced to settle for a share of the spoils.
Spurs’ success so far this season has been built on solid defensive play. Villas-Boas’ side have kept clean sheets against Crystal Palace, Swansea City and Norwich City in the Premier League and against Tromso in the Europa League on Thursday so the visitors will be keen to ensure that the Bluebirds draw a blank this weekend.
Mackay’s men are unbeaten in four matches in all competitions since going down to West Ham United on the opening day of the season and are certainly capable of keeping things tight against Spurs here.
It is also worth noting that the Londoners’ opening four league fixtures so far have produced just five goals and, therefore, there is value in backing Paddy Power’s 4/5 (1.80) quote for fewer than three goals to be scored on Sunday afternoon.
Villas-Boas is spoilt for choice ahead of this weekend’s clash with the likes of Christian Eriksen, Erik Lamela, Moussa Dembele, Gylfi Sigurdsson and Nacer Chadli all competing for starting berths in support of striker Roberto Soldado.
It is that depth of quality which could well give Villas-Boas’ side the edge here and punters searching for a bigger price are advised to snap up the juicy 11/5 (3.20) quote for Spurs to win to nil once again on Sunday afternoon.
