Jim Bentley's side beat Wolverhampton Wanderers 1-0 in the last round to set up a tie with the Magpies, and with both sides struggling at the start of this season, this could come as a welcome relief from league football.
Newcastle have started very sluggishly in 2013-14. Pardew's side were beaten away at Manchester City on the opening day of the season 4-0, with the Geordies never looking threatening in the match. They then returned home to face West Ham, but a goalless draw has left the fans frustrated at their start to the season. Despite those opening two games, William Hill price them at 8/15 (1.53) to get the job done on Wednesday.
Morecambe recorded their first victory in League Two last weekend, brushing aside Exeter City 2-0 at the Globe Arena. It had been a tough start for Jim Bentley's men, who had lost two and drawn one of their first three league matches.
Sandwiched in between those games was the victory against Wolves, which will have inspired confidence within the side. William Hill price them at 11/2 (6.50) to cause an upset once again tonight, something the sold out crowd will be vying for. William Hill also price the draw at 10/3 (4.33).
Despite Newcastle's current form, it's tough to see past the Premier League side, but the price of 8/15 (1.53) is too short to back. However, the handicap market is worth a look, with Newcastle -1 5/4 (2.25) with William Hill. With the poor start, expect Pardew to name a full strength side, as he looks to claim his first victory of the season and, if the big guns come out for the Magpies, expect them to win comfortably against Morecambe. It's also worth noting as Newcastle aren't involved in any European competitions, they are likely to take the domestic cups seriously.
