Ben Arfa outlines top-five ambition

Despite kicking off their Premier League campaign with a 4-0 humbling at the hands of Manchester City, the Newcastle star is hopeful that they can push up the table
Newcastle attacking midfielder Hatem Ben Arfa believes that the club can finish in the top five this season.

The Frenchman was in the starting XI as the Magpies opened their campaign with a disappointing 4-0 defeat to Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium on Monday.

5/1 Newcastle are 5/1 with William Hill to be relegated
Ben Arfa missed much of last season through injury, scoring four goals in 22 appearances in a difficult campaign as Alan Pardew's men finished 16th in the Premier League, but had been a key part of the team who finished fifth in the season before.

And the optimistic former Marseille man told The Sun: "Our objective is to finish in the top 10 and I hope we can finish top five.

"That is going to be tough but I'm confident. The Manchester City game has gone and now we have to turn out attention to West Ham on Saturday.

"I will be doing everything for the team to maybe repeat what we did two years ago.

"We will be stronger than last year. There's confidence in the squad. We think we can do something good this season."
