thumbnail Hello,

The Belgium international believes Manuel Pellegrini's signings are bedding in well and is pleased to see there is a new intensity to pre-season

Vincent Kompany believes that a "hungry" Manchester City can regain the Premier League title from arch-rivals Manchester United.

City saw the top-flight crown wrestled from their grasp by United last term, with Sir Alex Ferguson sealing the last of his 13 league titles by 11 points which, along with the club's shock FA Cup final defeat to Wigan, contributed to Roberto Mancini losing his job at Eastlands.

Replacement Manuel Pellegrini has made personnel changes since arriving in June but Kompany is confident that all the new arrivals will fit in well.

"We've worked very hard so far in pre-season and you can sense that this team is hungry," Kompany he told the club's official website.

"There's been a great group atmosphere, but at the same time we have worked very hard. Everybody in the team is keen to learn; we need to learn how we can improve."

The arrival of Jesus Navas, Fernandinho, Alvaro Negredo and Stevan Jovetic has freshened the squad up and the 27-year-old admits he has been impressed with the new additions.

"The level and the intensity of training we have been doing is extremely high and the new players have fitted straight in," he added.

"You can tell that the homework has been done and we have brought in some very good players.

"In training it is clear that everyone wants to be part of this team and that everyone is ready to compete."
