The Netherlands left-back officially joined the Potters on Friday evening from PSV and is excited by the prospect of playing in the top flight of English football
The 24-year-old signed a four-year contract on Friday after Stoke and PSV agreed a €3.5 million fee for the left-back.
Pieters has revealed he has wanted to make the switch to the Premier League for a long time and is eager to test himself against high quality opponents.
“Of course, I've always wanted to play in the Premier League,” Pieters told the club's official website.
“It’s one of the hardest competitions to play in with some great players and teams and I’m really excited about it.
“I’m really looking forward to playing for this club. It’s important for me that the first impression is good and I’ve got a great feeling about Stoke City.”
The Netherlands international admits it will be a little difficult to leave his home country, but he is excited by the challenge at Stoke and eager to meet up with his new team-mates for pre-season training.
“I’m glad everything has been sorted out,” Pieters continued. “There has been a lot of talk about me but now everything is finalised I can look forward to the future with Stoke City.
“It will be difficult to leave Holland because everyone, family and friends, are there but it won’t be a problem as they are only an hour’s flight away.”
“I can’t wait for the start of pre-season – it’s a chance to meet new people and my new team-mates and it can’t happen too soon.”
