thumbnail Hello,

The centre-back has claimed that Sir Alex Ferguson's side should be the favourites for Premier League success every year thanks to their recent dominance of English football

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand has claimed his side are not given enough credit despite their recent domination of the English game.

The Red Devils require just 10 points from their final seven league games to secure a 20th league success having led from the front for much of the campaign.

However, the Englishman says that the tendency for bookmakers to overlook his side as favourites for the trophy each year has repeatedly "riled" him.

"Every year that we've won the league, the following season we've never been favourites to win the league," he told Red Wednesday.

"That's in most people's books or in the bookies' books, and that's always riled me.

"If you win the league, you should be the favourites next year because you've been the best team in the league - it's simple."

United have racked up 77 points so far this season and could surpass the 95-point record set by Chelsea under Jose Mourinho during the 2004-2005 campaign

And Ferdinand believes that those who doubted Sir Alex Ferguson's team following last season's surrender of the title to Manchester City have only spurred his team-mates on.

He told BBC Radio Manchester: "People don't want to see us win the league and we thrive off that. We love it."
