'We've got to attack', says Sigurdsson ahead of must-win Basel clash

The Icelandic midfielder has urged his team-mates to go all out in the pursuit of victory against the Swiss champions on Thursday if they are to progress in the Europa League
Tottenham midfielder Gylfi Sigurdsson believes the White Hart Lane outfit will have to attack from the first whistle in the second leg of their Europa League quarter-final tie with Basel.

The Iceland international played a crucial role in the first-leg matchup, striking the equalising goal as Spurs came from two goals down to level the scores.

However, anything less than victory in Switzerland will send Spurs out of the competition, but after surviving a scare in the first leg Sigurdsson is eager to book a place in the semi-finals.

"We need to go out there and win the game,” the 23-year-old told the club's official website.

"We managed to get back into the tie by drawing the game and now it’s down to us.

"We know what we’ve got to do. We’ve got to attack them and win the game, whether that’s in the first minute or the last. The important thing is to be in the hat for the next round."
