Mirallas ‘sure’ Moyes will stay
The 49-year-old’s future is uncertain with his contract set to expire in the summer but the Belgium international is keen for him to extend his spell in charge of the Toffees
Kevin Mirallas is convinced Everton manager David Moyes will commit his long-term future to the club and sign a new contract in the summer.
Moyes’ current deal expires in the summer and he recently revealed he has delayed any decision over his future until the end of the season with the club still in the mix for Champions League football next term.
Goal.com exclusively revealed in January that club officials were growing increasingly concerned over his future, and Mirallas has highlighted his popularity with the club’s supporters, chairman and players.
He told Sky Sports: "Of course I would be keen if he signed, he showed confidence in me by bringing me to club.
"He has been at Everton for many years and is very popular with the fans, chairman and players and I am sure he will sign. I cannot see why he wouldn't because of those reasons."
Along with keeping up pace with the rest of the pack chasing for Champions League qualification, Everton are still in the FA Cup despite a last-gasp Oldham equaliser forcing a replay ahead of a possible quarter-final place.
And Mirallas has admitted, while the prospect of silverware is superb, a spot in Europe’s elite club competition is a bigger attraction.
He added: "If it was down to me winning a trophy would be great, but Champions League qualification would be fantastic."
