Benitez: I'm paying for my success at Liverpool
The Chelsea boss believes his previous spell at Anfield is to blame for his poor relationship with the Blues' fanbase but insists he remains happy at Stamford Bridge

Since taking over from Roberto Di Matteo on an interim basis in November, the Spaniard has been pilloried with unhappy supporters, with results doing little to stem the tide.

| The Chelsea captain says that disappointing results come down to the manager |
"Nevertheless, I just continue working hard and focusing on being successful with Chelsea. All we can do is show complete dedication. When we win, there's no-one in the world happier than me."
The Spaniard's tenure has seen the Blues exit the Champions League at the group stage and fall to Swansea City in the Capital One Cup semi finals as well as lose ground on the top two in the Premier League to leave them fighting for a place in next season's European top table.
However, Benitez refuses to take full responsibility for all of those struggles, instead opining that the rot had set in by the time of his arrival at the club.
"When we arrived, the team was practically out of the Champions League, was slipping down the Premier League and had been given a hiding in the Super Cup [by Atletico Madrid]," he explained. "It was a team in transition and the results weren't good enough.

"it's not going to be easy [to ensure qualification for the Champions League] but the team is looking good. In fact, we've now scored more than 100 goals and we are conceding fewer."
The former Valencia boss went on to refuse to rule out the prospect of managing his native Spain, should current boss Vicente del Bosque choose to leave the current world and two-times European champions after World Cup 2014.
"I don't rule out becoming the Spain coach, if and when Vicente decides to leave," Benitez continued. "It's something I would envision for further down the line, although to achieve that I have to continue in elite football and keep on doing well."
