Official: Heurelho Gomes leaves Tottenham for Hoffenheim loan

The Brazilian has failed to make an appearance for Spurs this term, and now heads to the Bundesliga side for the rest of the season in search of first-team football

Tottenham have confirmed that goalkeeper Heurelho Gomes will spend the rest of the season on loan at Bundesliga side Hoffenheim.

The Brazilian international has made 136 appearances for the club since joining from PSV Eindhoven for £8.5 million in 2008, but has fallen behind Hugo Lloris and Brad Friedel in the pecking order at White Hart Lane.

Gomes has failed to make a first-team outing for the team this season after just four appearances last term, and will now push current No.1 Tim Wiese for a first-team spot, with Hoffenheim boasting the worst defensive record in the league as they sit second-bottom.

The 31-year-old is the second goalkeeper to leave Tottenham this month, following Carlo Cudicini’s switch to MLS side LA Galaxy.
