Owen eager to prove his worth for Stoke
The 33-year-old notched his first goal for the Potters earlier this month but, having made just six appearances so far this season, is keen to add to that tally
Stoke City striker Michael Owen has insisted he is still "hungry" to be involved at the Britannia Stadium, despite failing to make an impact so far this season.
The 33-year-old has made just six appearances since joining the Potters in September, scoring once, but did manage to notch his 150th Premier League goal - and first in 15 months - in the loss to Swansea City on January 19.
And Owen is determined to add to that tally in the second half of the season and prove his long-standing critics wrong.
"People have questioned me for the last six years if I’m honest," Owen is quoted as saying by the Daily Mirror.
"You always get questioned when you’re not playing, especially when you’ve played to the level I have in my career. I’m really hungry, though, but it’s difficult to express.
"The season hasn’t gone the way I wanted it to because I’ve hardly played, hardly scored and haven’t been involved in the season at all yet. Hopefully the second half of the season can be a lot better for me.
"When I came here, I wanted to get in the team. That hasn’t changed and I hope I can play a big part here for Stoke."
