Liverpool's £12 million signing Daniel Sturridge makes his debut for the Merseyside club, starting alone up front and relegating an in-form Luis Suarez to the bench.First choice goalkeeper Pepe Reina sits out, allowing the Australian Brad Jones to start against Mansfield Town.
Veteran Jamie Carragher stands out in what is a youthful looking defense, with the 34-year-old starting at centre back alongside three defenders under the age of 25.
England international Raheem Sterling is rested on the bench today as Brendan Rodgers opts to start Stewart Downing, whilst another notable absence being that of captain Steven Gerrard, who is rested completely for today's tie.
