Luiz targeting titles to make up for Club World Cup disappointment
The Brazil defender admits his sadness at Sunday's final defeat to Corinthians in Yokohama, but says he is now focusing on winning the league with Chelsea
Chelsea defender David Luiz has spoken of his disappointment at the Blues’ 1-0 Club World Cup final defeat to Corinthians in Japan on Sunday, but says he is now focusing on the league.Jose Paolo Guerrero netted the only goal of the game at the Nissan Stadium and the defender, who was reduced to tears at the final whistle, believes it’s time to forget about the defeat on Sunday and focus on winning the Premier League.
"I am sad because I said before the game this is one competition I really wanted to win," the Brazilian told the club’s official website.
"But I lost a final and now I am going to look for another title in my life.
"Chelsea tried to win all the game and all the players worked hard to score. We created a lot of opportunities to score but we were unlucky because we couldn't score one goal.
"This was the game, two teams worked hard to win the title but only one team could score a goal.
"I am disappointed but I need to look to the future because I have many games ahead.
"I play for a big club and I need to win and I need to win big titles, so Chelsea must now try to win the Premier League."
