Zola blasts stories claiming he is after Chelsea job
The Watford manager said in a recent interview that he aspires to be good enough to manage a top club, but is unhappy with some peoples' interpretation of his desires
Gianfranco Zola has reacted angrily to reports claiming he wants the managerial position at Chelsea, dismissing the claims and re-affirming his commitment to his current employers Watford.
In an interview with magazine France Football, Zola said he dreamt about one day being a good enough manager to take charge of a top team, such as Chelsea, but the Italian is not pleased with how his words have been twisted in the media.
Responding to the stories, Zola has re-assured Watford fans that he is by no means using the club as a way to publicise himself and added that he is totally committed to achieving everything he possibly can while at the club.
Speaking to Watford’s official website, Zola said: "I don't like it [the stories] at all. I'm not using Watford as a promotion for myself.
"I care massively what happens here, and I am trying things in the best way possible.
"Most of all I am upset for fans having to read headlines which are a long way from what I am saying. I speak from the heart about Watford, and what we are trying to achieve here on behalf of the whole club."
