Laudrup happy with ‘deserved’ draw against Liverpool

The Swansea City manager was pleased that his side got what he thought they had earned in their goalless draw with Brendan Rodgers' team at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday

Michael Laudrup admitted he was happy with a "deserved" point after his Swansea City side held Liverpool to a 0-0 draw at the Liberty Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

The Dane admitted that the visitors had the better chances to break the deadlock but felt his side were still worthy of getting something out of the fixture.

"I think it was a good point, I think we deserved that point," the 48-year-old said as his side claimed a first clean sheet since August.

"In the first half they had more chances than us but we had chances too and I am pleased with the performance.

"You know when you play against [Luis] Suarez and [Steven] Gerrard they can always invent something, but I think we handled it well."

Talk before the game had centred on claims made by Swansea captain Ashley Williams in his new book about Liverpool striker Suarez, claiming the Uruguayan striker is a cheat and one of the most unlikeable players in the English game.

Laudrup says he was happy with how his central defenders dealt with the livewire striker, who is top of the scoring charts in the Premier League.

He said: "There has been a lot of talk about Suarez and Ashley [Williams] and today we saw two guys trying to do their best.

"Suarez did some good things, but maybe less than he is used to as he played against two guys who did very well.

"There was one foul and yellow card for Chico but it was a fantastic game defensively."
