Liverpool interested in Sporting winger Jeffren, claims agent
According to the former Barcelona player's representative, the Merseysiders are one of a number of English clubs considering a move for the Spanish attacker
The agent of Sporting winger Jeffren has claimed his client is attracting interest from a number of Premier League clubs, with Liverpool considering an offer.
The 24-year-old moved to Portugal from Barcelona in the summer of 2011, and, despite having struggled for form and fitness since the switch, has apparently caught the eye of a selection of English clubs as the January transfer window approaches
Brendan Rodgers admitted on Sunday that he is keen to add competition to his forward line having found himself short of attacking options following his failed attempt to recruit Clint Dempsey, Andy Carroll’s loan to West Ham and Fabio Borini’s recent foot injury.
"Liverpool and other Premier League clubs are monitoring the kid," Jorge Llagostera told Portuguese radio station Antena 1.
"But, formally, we still not have received an offer to negotiate with Sporting."
Jeffren has nabbed one goal in eight appearances for Sporting so far this season.
