Adam Johnson: Stoke draw is a point gained for Sunderland

The former Manchester City winger says the trip to the Britannia is never an easy one and that his side should take heart from their 0-0 draw with the Potters
Sunderland winger Adam Johnson insists that the 0-0 draw with Stoke City on Saturday was a good result for his team.The Black Cats gave a battling performance at the Britannia Stadium to come away with a point and the 25-year-old was quick to point out the positives from his side's display.
"I thought it was a fair result - it was definitely a point gained rather than points dropped,” Johnson told the club's official website.
“I’ve been to the Britannia Stadium a couple of times with Manchester City and each of those times I think we got a draw and a couple of defeats.
“So it just goes to show how difficult a place it is to come, as not many teams get a result here.”
Sunderland have one of the tightest defences in the league so far this season, with only Arsenal having conceded less. But the former City man believes that the team need to start offering more of an attacking threat if they are to start moving up the league table.
"We’re picking up points and not getting beaten,” Johnson added. “Now we need to start getting forward, creating a few more chances and getting goals and going on to win games.
“I’ve had a slow start since moving to Sunderland. I haven’t been too happy with my performances if I’m honest, but I’m now starting to feel that I’m lasting longer in games and getting fitter after my injury.
“I’m hoping to get better and keep on improving.”
