The champions will aim to maintain their incredible Premier League record at the Etihad against Michael Laudrup's side, following their crushing defeat to Ajax on Wednesday

Roberto Mancini will be without influential playmaker David Silva (hamstring) after he returned injured from international duty, while James Milner is suspended after his sending-off last week.

The champions also have doubts over  Yaya Toure (ankle), Jack Rodwell (hamstring), Javi Garcia (thigh) and Maicon (ankle).

Edin Dzeko started in City's midweek loss at Ajax and is expected to drop back to the bench behind Carlos Tevez after a poor showing in Amsterdam.

Swans boss Michael Laudrup is still without summer signing Kyle Bartley (thigh) and long term injury absentee Neil Taylor (ankle).

Michu has lined up as a central striker in recent weeks, and is set to continue in the position, after a fine goalscoring start to the campaign.

  • Manchester City are unbeaten in their last 33 league games at the Etihad.
  • Mancini's men have also scored in each of their last 35 matches in front of their hom support.
  • City have fired in 56 shots on target this season, more than any other team in the top flight.
  • Swansea's summer acquistion Michu (pictured) has scored six goals from just eight shots on target this season.
  • They Swans recorded their first Premier League win since August with a 2-1 victory over Wigan Athletic last weekend.
  • They have won just one and lost five of their last seven Premier League away games.

Manchester City's recent dip in form is reflected in the performances of the captain. His uncharacteristic mistake led to Milner's sending-off last week and the Belgian has failed replicate the leadership which led City to the title last season. If Kompany can get back to his best then City can perhaps do the same.

Position: Attacker

Since arriving in Wales from Rayo Vallecano the Spanish attacker has already notched six league goals and displaced regular frontman Danny Graham in Laudrup's line-up. City have conceded a large number of goals from set-peices this season and must be wary of Michu's aerial ability.

Editor's Prediction

Swansea started the season of brilliantly but have sinced faded under Laudrup. They haven't been the best travellers in the league and they're task is made no easier by City's daunting record at the Etihad. Mancini will be livid with his side's Champions League exploits and will demand a reaction from his players in front of home support.
