After picking up numerous injuries during the start of the season, the Red Devils boss is boosted by news that one England international is fit with another progressing.Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed Ashley Young is fit again, however Chris Smalling is not yet ready to make his comeback.
Young has been out of action with a knee injury suffered in September but is now ready to be considered for a first team place, something Sir Alex is more than happy with.
Speaking to reporters, Ferguson said: "Very few players can cross as well as he can and his goalscoring ratio is very good."
The 70-year-old will be happy with Chris Smalling's progress as he recovers from a broken metatarsal he suffered in the summer.
The England defender will bring greatly needed numbers into a thin Manchester United defence which has had to rely on young Scott Wootton at times.
More good news that the United manager revealed is that all players came back from international duty unscathed, something he is not too familiar with.
Ferguson added: "always a time when you're a bit concerned but we've been lucky this time".
