The 27-year-old is still hoping to improve his game with the north London side, while he labelled it a "privilege" to be involved with Spain's national team in any capacity

Santi Cazorla says he is enjoying the extra responsibility he has taken on at Arsenal, indicating the summer move to the Premier League has been a step forward in his career.

The 27-year-old has been key in the Gunners' solid start to the season, scoring twice and assisting another two goals in nine appearances, and is very happy with his role in Arsene Wenger's side, stating he is still aiming to improve with time.

"It could be that in the few months I have been there people have been talking a lot more about me," Cazorla told reporters.

"I feel important at Arsenal and I want to keep developing. The way Arsenal play and the responsibility they have given me is something I have always sought out.

"I think it's a step forward in my career and I hope to improve a great deal in the future."

The attacking playmaker is currently on international duty with Spain, who play away in Belarus and at home to France in two World Cup 2014 qualifiers.

Cazorla is more of a fringe player for La Roja, with the likes of David Silva, Andres Iniesta, Juan Mata and Cesc Fabregas all competing for places, but is delighted just to be involved with the reigning World and European Champions' set-up.

"I am happy with my role and it's a privilege to be here," he continued.

"Hopefully I can continue to help out as much as possible, I am working every day towards that.

"I am feeling in very good shape and I consider myself fortunate to have the opportunities I am being given."

The midfielder will play a number of familiar faces when Les Blues travel to Atletico Madrid's Vicente Calderon, with the Premier League represented well in the French squad.

Laurent Koscielny and Olivier Giroud, both team-mates with Cazorla at Arsenal, are among the players that could feature, with the Spaniard insisting Didier Deschamps has a whole wealth of talent to pick from.

"I have several team-mates [at Arsenal] from the French national team," he added.

"We have to watch out for them but there are a lot more players in the top rank and it will be a tough game.

"We hope to get through it and push on with qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil."
