The 26-year-old Belgian had a fantastic 2011-12 season with City, captaining them to the title and winning the Premier League Player of the Season award for a series of impressive defensive displays throughout the campaign, and says he feels at home in Manchester.
"It would take me time at another club to reach the level I have achieved with City. Even then, there would be no guarantee I could do it," he told The Sun.

Kompany added: "Besides, I am convinced that I can win just as many honours with City as I could with Barcelona or Real Madrid."
The tough-tackling centre-back was rumoured to have been a target for both the Liga giants earlier in his career, and would no doubt create huge interest were he to declare his desire to move away from the Etihad Stadium.
However, Kompany believes playing second fiddle to the Madrid and Barcelona's stars could not compare to captaining Roberto Mancini's side.
"Whoever goes to play for Real will be in [Cristiano] Ronaldo’s shadow, and whoever joins Barca will be overshadowed by [Lionel] Messi," he added. "So I prefer to be captain of Manchester City."
And despite the attention he receives in the press, the defender revealed he is comfortable with life at the club.
"I feel very much at home here and am able to live a normal life," he continued. "I get interest from paparazzi, but so long as you behave normally there is no problem."
