Evra & Suarez should lead Hillsborough tribute at Anfield, says Liverpool legend Fowler
By Ryan Grant
Sep 21, 2012 10:50:00 AM
The 37-year-old believes it would be a touching gesture if the pair were to play a part in remembering those lost in the disaster, following the problems between them last season
Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler has called for Luis Suarez and Patrice Evra to lead the Hillsborough tributes when his former side take on Manchester United this weekend. The two were involved in a race storm when the teams met last season and amid calls for offensive chants between the clubs' fans to stop, Fowler is the latest prominent figure to call for peace.
"The Suarez-Evra incident overshadowed a lot of stuff last year," Fowler told BBC Radio 5 live.
"It would be nice for Luis Suarez to put some flowers towards the Manchester United end regarding Munich, and maybe for Patrice Evra to lay some flowers at the Kop end.
"The two clubs do have a rivalry, but some things are far more important than football and this is one of them."
