The Manchester United and England striker is back training, and coping well following the horrific leg gash he sustained in their Premier League game with Fulham last monthManchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson has confirmed that Wayne Rooney is progressing well in his bid to recover from the leg injury he suffered at Old Trafford in August.
Despite the deep gash he suffered to his right thigh, Rooney could soon return to action for United having started light training.
"Wayne's doing very well," Ferguson told the club's official website.
"The scar's healed well and he's training terrifically, though he’s not back in football training yet. All his work is being done with the physios at this point in time.
"The issue now is when do we decide to bring him into the game? We have to take the medical advice on that one."
Rooney's progression completes a week of mixed injury news for the Red Devils. Robin Van Persie and Shinji Kagawa both took part in training despite injury scares whilst on international duty, but Phil Jones is set to miss another two months following surgery on his knee problem.
