Assou-Ekotto: Villas-Boas is like the son of Mourinho
The Spurs left-back has given his backing to the new boss, saying he is 'cool' and that more tactics are being used in training, which will help the team to win and enjoy football
Tottenham left-back Benoit Assou-Ekotto has stated that new boss Andre Villas-Boas is like the 'son of Jose Mourinho', because of the similarities between the pair.Villas-Boas followed in the footsteps of Mourinho by managing Porto, as well as leading the club to an incredible treble triumph.
And Assou-Ekotto insists that Villas-Boas is of a similar ilk to Mourinho and can help Spurs to win and enjoy their football.
"[Villas-Boas is] cool," Assou-Ekotto told Sky Sports.
"He has a different way to work, so we learn different things from him.
"He's like the son of [Jose] Mourinho because he used to work with him and he works in the same style. We do a little more tactics in training.
"If we work more about tactics we can win and we will enjoy [our football]."
Villas-Boas is yet to experience a competitive victory with Spurs, having lost the opening game of the Premier League season to Newcastle, before conceding a last-minute equaliser against West Brom on Saturday.
