After missing Spurs' pre-season tour of the United States it was decided by the club's medical staff that a procedure was needed to solve the problem.
Games that the former West Ham man will miss include Andre Villas-Boas' team's trip to Newcastle United on the opening day of the season as well as home games against West Brom and Norwich City.
Parker will also miss World Cup qualifying matches for England against Moldova and Ukraine.
