The England player will miss the start of the Premier League season and is expected to return after the international break in September, ruling him out of two World Cup qualifiers

Tottenham midfielder Scott Parker will miss the start of the Premier League season having undergone an operation on his Achilles' tendon.

He is expected to return to training after the international break in September, the club have announced.

The England international struggled with the injury at the back end of last season but played for his country at Euro 2012.

After missing Spurs' pre-season tour of the United States it was decided by the club's medical staff that a procedure was needed to solve the problem.

Games that the former West Ham man will miss include Andre Villas-Boas' team's trip to Newcastle United on the opening day of the season as well as home games against West Brom and Norwich City.

Parker will also miss World Cup qualifying matches for England against Moldova and Ukraine.
