The tough tackling defender is suffering with a virus spotted during training and could miss the start of the new Premier League campaign
Stoke City defender Robert Huth has been taken to hospital with suspected meningitis the club have confirmed. The German international was suffering from the virus during training when club doctors decided to send the 27-year old to hospital.
The club commented on their official Twitter page to confirm Huth's condition: "The club can confirm that Robert Huth has suspected meningitis and that they are awaiting the outcome of further tests."
Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge has recently made a quick recovery from viral meningitis, in time to play for Team GB at London 2012, and Potters manager Pulis is hoping Huth can be back in action soon.
"It's a major concern so close to the start of the new season because Huthy is such an important figure for us," Pulis told the club's official website.
"It takes a lot to knock Huthy back, but he was clearly not well, so we have sent him to hospital and will hopefully have the results of the tests on him tomorrow.
"We're just hoping he will be okay and it's not too serious."
