Vidic to feature during Manchester United's European pre-season tour, reveals Sir Alex Ferguson
Having been out since December, the United skipper's return will come as a huge boost as Chris Smalling and Jonny Evans remain sidelined, whilst Rafael is at the Olympics
Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed that team captain Nemanja Vidic will be participating in the club’s European leg of their pre-season tour.
As exclusively revealed by Goal.com, the 30-year-old had stepped up his training over a week ago as he looks to be fit for the Red Devils' first game of the new Premier League season against Everton on August 20.
Vidic has been ruled out since suffering knee ligament damage in December and Sir Alex has welcomed the news following setbacks to fellow defenders.

"Chris Smalling is out for 10 weeks with his metatarsal operation and Jonny Evans is still just in light training," the United boss told reporters.
"They’re big losses at the moment and they will miss the start of the season.
"Rafael is away [with Brazil at the Olympics] and Fabio is away on loan so there are four defensive players that we don't have for the back four positions.
"We do have Phil Jones, Nemanja Vidic, Rio Ferdinand and Patrice Evra, though. That will be the back four on tour. Hopefully we don’t get any more injuries as it would leave me a bit short."
The three-game trip across Europe will see United play Valerenga on August 5, with games against Barcelona and Hannover to come.
