Zabaleta predicts Manchester City team-mate Tevez will hit form next season
The Argentine defender is confident the Sky Blues forward will hit his peak next season now that he has put last season’s events behind him
Manchester City defender Pablo Zabaleta has revealed team-mate Carlos Tevez is ready to put last season’s controversial incidents with manager Roberto Mancini behind him.The Argentine is confident Tevez’s presence in the Sky Blues first-team next season will be vital in City’s title defence which gets underway next month.
Tevez missed the majority of last season after going AWOL following a bust-up with Manchester City boss Mancini and going home to his native Argentina.
"We are all trying to forget what happened last season.” Zabaleta told Sky Sports.
| TEVEZ TO TOP SCORE? | |
| 16/1 | Carlos Tevez is 16/1 with William Hill to be the top goalscorer in next season's Premier League |
"Carlos has been fantastic in training. He's been prepared to work hard for the team and with his attitude and effort, that's good for us.
"We know how important he can be and the way he is playing he'll help us to more success. It's good for me and Sergio (Aguero) too - the Three Amigos. I really enjoy having them both here, it's great."
Tevez’ long absence from first-team action last season meant he only played with fellow striker Aguero seven times last season, but Zabaleta is confident they can form a dangerous partnership.
“Their partnership at the end of last season was fantastic. They are really happy together and that's good news for the team.
"They are both looking forward to the season."
