Sir Alex Ferguson relaxed over Berbatov's Manchester United future

Latest Manchester City still in Premier League title race, insists Yaya Toure Previous

The Red Devils boss praises the Bulgarian's performance in the club's 1-0 pre-season win over Amazulu and maintains that he will not force the striker to move this summer

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson insists that he will not push Dimitar Berbatov out of the club despite an expected exit.

The Bulgaria international produced an impressive display in the Red Devils’ 1-0 win over South African outfit Amazulu, providing the assist for Federico Macheda's winner.

But the 31-year-old has claimed that it is time to "say goodbye" and that he is available for £5 million, with Galatasaray confirmed to be interested in his services.

"The boy obviously wants to leave," Sir Alex told the club's official website.

"I'm easy about it. If he stays, I'll be happy. If somebody comes in for him and Dimitar wants to leave, we'll assess it."

MANCHESTER UNITED LATEST
9/4 Shinji Kagawa is 9/4 with William Hill to make between 16 and 20 Premier League starts in 2012-13

Berbatov’s agent, Emil Danchev, has reportedly been attempting to orchestrate a move to Spanish side Malaga, but that has been derailed as authorities continue to investigate the club over alleged non-payment of wages and tax evasion.

Premier League new-boys West Ham recently concluded a deal for Sochaux striker Modibo Maiga to seemingly end their interest in the frontman, while Zlatan Ibrahimovic's move to Paris Saint-Germain has also appeared to close that possibility.

But Sir Alex is confident that Berbatov will find a new club with ease, given his “fantastic talent”.

"I don't need to herald Dimitar's abilities," the veteran manager added.

"He's a fantastic talent. He didn't get the amount of football he wanted last season.

"It's difficult for him at his age to accept second place in the forward line. The likes of [Wayne] Rooney, Chicharito, [Danny] Welbeck were all in front of him last season.

"It's been difficult. But in fairness to him [against Amazulu] he applied himself well and did very well with the first goal."

Champions League final - LIVE!
German giants Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund will battle it out at Wembley for European glory. Get involved by sending us your thoughts via Twitter or Facebook! Hosted by Mark Doyle.

BAYERN MUNICH ARE THE CHAMPIONS OF EUROPE!! Die Roten have done it. They have beaten compatriots Borussia Dortmund at the death. It was a truly epic encounter, a credit to the Bundesliga. That will be of no consolation to Dortmund, of course, who, to a man, have fallen to their knees. But so too has Arjen Robben. Franz Beckenbauer said at half-time that the Dutchman seemed destined never to score in a major final, but he's done it tonight. By God, has he done it tonight. Borussia Dortmund 1-2 Bayern Munich.

You have to hand it to Robben for the way in which he finished that chance, having already wasted two one-on-ones. The winger looked almost overcome with emotion as he wheeled away to celebrate the most glorious goal of a career that has had many ups and downs. But one also has to spare a thought for Dortmund: they're fans look utterly distraught.

IT'S ROBBEN! IT'S REDEMPTION FOR ROBBEN!!! Arjen Robben has most probably just won the Champions League for Bayern. A year after missing a penalty in the heartbreaking defeat by Chelsea, the much-maligned latches onto a backheel from Ribery, eaves a couple of flailing Dortmund legs before coolly rolling the ball past Weidenfeller to put Bayern 2-1 up with just over 60 seconds of normal time remaining. Sensational.

Weidenfeller saves Dortmund again! Lahm cuts the ball back and Muller cleverly steps over it, allowing the onrushing Schweinsteiger to unleash a fierce drive that Weidenfeller does well to beat away!

Well, a penny for this guy's thoughts, as he watches his current club battle it out with his next club for the biggest prize in club football ... Is he really making the right decision ditching Dortmund for Bayern this summer?
