The Blues defender spoke of his difficult two weeks recovering from the double fracture of his jaw he sustained in England's Euro 2012 warm-up match against BelgiumGary Cahill returned to full training for Chelsea on Monday after experiencing a "nightmare" fortnight suffering with injury.
The defender, who picked up a double fracture of his jaw after colliding with goalkeeper Joe Hart during England's friendly with Belgium, was ruled out of representing the Three Lions at Euro 2012 due to the injury.
But the 27 year-old is grateful his ordeal is over and is now looking forward to the new season at Stamford Bridge.
Cahill told the club's official website: "I had all the stuff out. The metal plates were in my mouth which elastic banded it up so it was kept in position.
"It was like that for two weeks on a soft food diet so it was a nightmare really. It's all done now so I can move on."
