‘I never stopped believing’ – Manchester City captain Kompany jubilant after dramatic Premier League triumph

Edin Dzeko and Sergio Aguero’s incredible back-to-back strikes rescued the hosts when it seemed that they had surrendered the title to Manchester United, but the defender insists that he always felt the win possible.
“For some reason I never stopped believing. Never, ever, did I stop believing,” Kompany told Sky Sports after the game.
“When Edin scored that goal it did remind me of a few moments this season – against Tottenham, we scored in the last minute, against Sunderland, we came back from two goals down. We’d done it this season before so we had no reason to not believe.”
Pablo Zabaleta had given City a first-half lead but QPR, despite a Joey Barton red card in between, hit back for a 2-1 lead to give the home side a huge fright, and the Belgian admitted that his nerves had been shredded.
“You want to say it’s the best moment of your life but, if I’m honest, please, never again this way,” he gasped.
“We’ve been so good this season, we’ve been incredible, especially at home, and then all of a sudden today, even though our first half was really good, we just couldn’t get through.
“It’s not sunk in yet. I don’t know what happened in there, to be honest. It was such a huge mess, I don’t know what happened.
“I’m just happy for the guys because we’ve given so much this season.
“We’re champions today, but it’s not just us coming here for money and all these stories that we’ve heard. We’ve dreamed of this all our lives, when we had nothing, no money, and now we’re champions and that’s all it’s about for us.
“And you see the fans – how happy are they? Unbelievable.”
