Ashley Young: QPR could spoil Manchester City's title party
With Roberto Mancini's men heading to the relegation-threatened side on the final day, the Manchester United man feels that the London club can stop their rivals claiming the win
Manchester United winger Ashley Young is still optimistic about his side’s chances of winning the Premier League.
Sir Alex Ferguson’s men go into the last game of the season in second place, level on points with rivals Manchester City, but with an inferior goal difference.
City host relegation-threatened QPR, who need just a point to guarantee their survival, and, with this in mind, Young hopes that Mark Hughes’ charges will do United a favour on Sunday.
“Mark Hughes won’t want to lose as they have to get a point for their own safety,” the England international told The Sun.
“So he’ll set his side out to go there and do the best they can and hopefully they’ll [get a result] for us. Fingers crossed QPR will do us a favour and we’ll win the title.
The 26-year-old also joked that perhaps Rio Ferdinand’s brother Anton, who plays for the Rs, could help out his older sibling.
He added: “Maybe Rio can speak to his brother about it – we’ll have to wait and see.”
