The 22-year-old, who has failed to establish himself at the London outfit since arriving from Barcelona four years ago, will not be leaving England for an adventure in the USAThere were no talks between Major League Soccer teams and Tottenham regarding a possible loan move for Giovanni Dos Santos, Spurs executive director Darren Eales revealed.
The Mexican attacker has only made 16 league appearances for Harry Redknapp's side since joining from Barcelona in 2008, and was linked with several MLS clubs in the winter transfer window.
Dos Santos' agent, Vicente Montes, addressed the rumors, rejecting the notion that the 24-year-old will be interested in joining the North American league. Now Eales has confirmed that the attacker will not be leaving for an adventure in the USA.
"I can't really comment on that because that's more of a Daniel [Levy] and Harry [Redknapp] thing, but to my knowledge there's no truth to that," said Eales to reporters.
Eales, currently in New York to promote Tottenham's North American tour, also revealed that the club is very pleased with the development of Simon Dawkins in MLS.
He also pointed to former Spurs player Robbie Keane's form for Aston Villa as proof that the league is very competitive, and stated that he expects Tottenham to continue loaning out young players to USA clubs.
"We've loaned Simon Dawkins to San Jose and that shows the creditability of the league," said Eales. "To send one of our young players out there and to see him come back a better player reassures the club about the quality of the league.
"We're looking forward to loaning out more players to the MLS because the league is good at helping young players develop."
Eales also praised the exploits of 40-year-old American goalkeeper Brad Friedel, who he believes has been a solid addition for Tottenham.
"Brad Friedel, what a character! He now has, what? 300 consecutive appearances in the Premier League? I can't see that record being beaten, because what he does week in and week out is unbelievable," said Eales.
"He's been brilliant in the dressing room, a real professional. Obviously, you got to be when you are 40 and you are still playing in the league.
"He has had a superb season again even at his age. From an American standpoint, everywhere we've been to promote Tottenham's tour, he's the one player that they [media] are all interested in."
