TEAM NEWS: Gerrard & Carroll return to Liverpool starting line-up for Everton derby

The English duo were benched for the recent Premier League defeat to Sunderland at the Stadium of Light but join Luis Suarez and Stewart Downing to form a potent front line
Andy Carroll and Steven Gerrard return to the Liverpool line-up to face Everton in Tuesday's Merseyside derby.

The duo missed the weekend's 1-0 defeat at the hands of Sunderland but replace Dirk Kuyt and Charlie Adam respectively.

Craig Bellamy fails to make the squad given his inability to play games in quick succession due to knee problems, with Stewart Downing his replacement.

The inexperienced Sebastian Coates also loses his place in central defence to derby veteran Jamie Carragher.

Everton manager David Moyes has taken the unusual step of deploying two strikers as he looks for his first win at Anfield.

Denis Stracqualursi and Victor Anichebe lead the line for the Blues as Nikica Jelavic returns to the bench.

Southport-born Jack Rodwell also returns to the first XI whilst Steven Pienaar, who was forced to sit out the clash with parent club Tottenham at the weekend, comes into midfield.

Centre-back Phil Jagielka makes his comeback from injury at the expense of Johnny Heitinga whilst Phil Neville, Leon Osman and Royston Drenthe all miss out.
