Arsenal midfielder Jack Wilshere looks set to miss the rest of the season after scans revealed he has had a further set-back in his return from injury, according to the Daily Mail.

Wilshere appears to have suffered another stress fracture to his right ankle after finally recovering from the same injury that his kept him sidelined throughout the first-half of the season.

The 20-year-old returned to training last month and was set to re-join the first-team squad, but the youngster broke down again, it is thought that recent scans have confirmed the worst.

If Wilshere’s injury is as bad as it is feared, then his continued absence would be a big blow for England as well as Arsenal, with the player likely to miss out on Euro 2012.

However, the Gunners will most notably feel the effects of his injury the most, with the club hoping Wilshere's return would have provided a much-needed boost to the club's Champions League qualification hopes.
