The FA reportedly scrapped the ceremonial handshake between opponents prior to the FA Cup third round clash that pitted Queens Park Rangers against Chelsea because the home side's players were all reportedly going to snub John Terry.
The England and Chelsea skipper is alleged to have racially abused Anton Ferdinand during a previous meeting between the two sides, and 31-year-old Terry is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates Court on Wednesday to answer the charge, which he has strenuously denied.
There had been much speculation about whether or not the QPR defender would shake hands with the Blues' captain when the two sides met in the domestic cup competition.
However, The Mail on Sunday reports that the entire Rangers team had planned not to shake Terry by the hand prior to the game, which in turn caused the FA to take preventative action.
The match was played with heightened security and Chelsea eventually won 1-0 thanks to a controversially awarded penalty converted by Juan Mata.
