He said: “Hello my friends hope you're all good and healthy...very exciting day for me as back to full training with the team for the 1st time.”

In his absence the Gunners have had a troubled time filling the void at right-back with understudy Carl Jenkinson also out injured leaving Johan Djourou, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin to cover all stepping in to cover.

Team-mate Thomas Vermaelen also expressed his delight at the 28-year-old’s return to training on his own Twitter page.

The Belgian said: "Congrats to my mate @Sagnaofficial for his 1st session with the team after months of injury! Saw some good free kicks from you!! Keep it going!”
