The former Tottenham midfielder says last year's champions will be patient in their pursuit of a 20th title, and they should not be discarded from the Premier League race just yet
United are currently five points behind neighbours City in the Premier League, with Tottenham just two points behind them with a game in hand.
However, Carrick insists nobody at United is panicking just yet, and he claims everybody else is blowing their situation out of proportion.
The 30-year-old told reporters: "With United, it always seems to be the case that if you lose a game or have an indifferent match or two the roof caves in, or that is what people on the outside think.”
"We have been here before. We have had bad results and bad runs, a lot worse than the one we are on at the minute.
"Experience tells us to be patient. People can write us off if they want but hopefully we will be there at the end of the season."
