Chief scout confirms Chelsea are keeping tabs on Universidad de Chile's Igor Lichnovsky

The young centre-back has caught the Premier League side's attention with his performances for his current club's youth teams
Chelsea are closely monitoring the progress of Universidad de Chile defender Igor Lichnovsky, the club's chief scout in the region, Jorge Alvial, has revealed.

The 17-year-old centre-back is considered one of the biggest talents in his age category, and the London side are keeping a close eye on his development.

"Igor is a very good player. We are keeping tabs on him and have added his name to our shortlist. He is one of the players who we are closely following," Alvial was quoted as saying by La Tercera.

"We are not in a rush, though, and we realise that transfers from South America to England are not easy. For example, I scouted Franco Di Santo and it took him six months to adapt when we signed him for Chelsea."

Lichnovsky joined Universidad de Chile at the age of 10 and has already represented Chile at Under-17 level.
