thumbnail Hello,

Striking duo missed their side's Champions League stumble in midweek against Basel, while goalkeeper David de Gea only makes the bench with Anders Lindegaard stepping in

Wayne Rooney will partner Javier Hernandez in attack for Manchester United as the champions take on Norwich City at Old Trafford.

United manager Sir Alex Ferguson had previously expressed doubts over Rooney's availability for the match after he sat out their Champions League clash against Basel, but the England striker returns alongside Mexican Hernandez.

David de Gea will miss his first Premier League game as he is rested by Ferguson, with Anders Lindegaard starting in goal.

Rio Ferdinand and Ashley Young also miss out, with the defender dropping to the bench to be replaced by Jonny Evans. Young, who rescued a point with his late equaliser against Basel, is left out of the squad entirely, with Park Ji-Sung starting on the wing.

Russell Martin continues in central defence for Norwich, with Zak Whitbread, Daniel Ayala and Elliott Ward all sidelined by injury.

Captain Grant Holt starts from the bench with Paul Lambert preferring to continue with a five-man midfield following two consecutive victories against Sunderland and Bolton Wanderers.
