The Toffees are looking to recover from their 2-0 defeat at the Etihad Stadium, and the England under-21 international says he and his team-mates are ready for their city rivals
The Toffees were beaten 2-0 at the Etihad Stadium by Roberto Mancini’s star-studded side, but Rodwell says his team have moved on from the defeat and are focused on the game with Liverpool.
“We tried to match them on the day, but it wasn't to be,” Rodwell told The Daily Mirror.
"We had a Carling Cup match the previous week, which went to extra time, so that was a hard workout.
"Man City was again another hard workout - but we will have a rest, get into a good week's training and bounce back for the derby.”
Everton have been notoriously slow starters over past Premier League campaigns, but Rodwell says he is satisfied with their start this season, and believes they have a squad capable of competing.
He continued: "We have made a decent start and got some good victories under our belts.
“We feel we have a strong squad, we won’t get too down about City and will now focus on Liverpool.”
