The stories of the New York Cosmos, Columbian football and USA defender Jay DeMerit all get the chance to shine in a film festival that is coming to London
An international football film festival will be coming to London for the first time this week.
Kicking and Screaming showcases a range of films and documentaries on the sport, featuring the New York Cosmos, African football and the story of Watford and USA defender Jay DeMerit.
Ten films will be shown at Everyman Cinemas, with screenings at Hampstead, Belsize Park, Baker Street and Islington from Friday September 23 to Thursday 29.
The first film of the festival is 'Once In A Lifetime' - a documentary on the history of New York Cosmos, the American football club that only recently reformed, with Brazilian great Pele involved once again.
There is also a film on the fierce rivalry between Boca Juniors and River Plate; a documentary of American footballer Jay DeMerit; a look inside Colombian football; and the UK premiere of a film that examines at the way talent in African football is trafficked to Europe.
The football film festival ends with a 30th anniversary screening of football film Escape To Victory, which features Pele and Bobby Moore in cameos.
